maps
strange maps has a great map today of the U.S. with the 50 states renamed with a country that has a similar GDP. i like that ireland corresponds with nevada, because actually they are kind of similar. most of irelands population is in dublin, and most of nevada’s is in las vegas, with a lot of empty land in between, and a big chunk of the money for both is from tourism.
if you haven’t seen strange maps yet, there are a lot of cool maps over there. another great one is the map of middle earth which tries to figure out where all of the main points of interest would be in europe. with how fast the riders got from one place to the next, i always saw middle earth as being quite small, and with the location of the sea and mountains i sort of based it in my head on france. which makes mordor switzerland i guess, which is funny.
